Pee

I am determined to find humor in every situation.

I started out my morning with 3 kids in the bath tub. As I was sitting in the hall drying them all off, my littlest cutie jumps on my lap... and my leg gets warm. She straight up peed on me. My tank top, my cardigan AND my pants were soaked. Really?
I don't think she understands how hard it is to piece together an outfit every morning.
She laughed. And so did I.

So, I could have freaked, but I didn't and it felt really good.

Now it wasn't like I was going to yell at my one year old for peeing on me BUT I could have made that situation ruin my day.

I had given myself enough time to get ready (and re-ready) in the morning, creating some extra margin. I got to laugh. Doesn't that sound crazy? I GOT to laugh.

Finding humor.

Empty Office

Our office culture is pretty dang laid back, and it works. It really works and it produces results.

Last summer I worked with Amber McCue to help me get my business in order. You would not have believed the way I was keeping track of my cash flow and other icky spreadsheet stuff. The word P&L made me want to puke (and I don't imagine anyone particularly likes puking). So clearly I needed to do something about it.

While working with Amber I was moving my employees from contract to W2 and I said to Amber 'I can't wait to move my peeps over to W2 employees so I can set their schedules.' She paused and said 'Well, tell me why you want to do that?' I explained that I would have more control and it seemed like the next obvious move. When she asked me how things were currently going and I answered GREAT! Being the brilliant business coach that she is, she said 'Well then why change it?' Um duh.

She gave me a reading assignment: Work Sucks. That next week I made the decision to keep things as is.

I know it doesn't sound like a huge revelation, but it was. It took someone from the outside looking in to see this and point it out.

When I first hired a biz coach I kinda felt like I needed to keep it on the down low, I didn't want anyone to think I didn't have it all together. ha. Now I shout it from the rooftops (a.k.a. the internet)

My peeps tell me on a regular basis that they love the freedom to do what they want. This makes for one big happy work family.

Which leads me to Friday's. Our office is empty and it rocks.

Everyone gets their to-do lists completed and the weekend get started a little bit sooner than corporate America's.

Making that simple change in my business honestly could be the reason our doors are open today.

I thought Amber would help me with P&L's but really she helped save the culture of my business.

Initially this post was all about how much I like empty office Friday's and it turned into an Amber McCue testimonial. ha

How do I do it?

On a daily basis I get asked 'how do you do it?' Running a business, having employees all while raising a family. Well my answer in the past was I really don't. I was confident that I was floundering in all areas.

What a horrible feeling.
Then I woke up.

I signed up for a business course with Erika Lyremark called the Morning Whip. In this course I boosted my confidence and wrapped my business in clarity. I thought I had everything under control BUT this was only tackling my business struggles and then I landed upon Connexecute where they taught me all about building my perfect week.

Surprise surprise, I finally had time for everything because I scheduled in the important stuff and the Facebook surfing and online mushy brain games became a thing of the past.
In this blog I plan to share my past experiences + my daily crazy. My real goal here is to get my thoughts on paper and inspire other Mompreneurs.
